Glass Eye Studio - Celestial A Star Is Born

Beginning within an interstellar cloud of dust and gas, these astonishing heavenly bodies continue to fascinate young and old alike. The Celestial A Star Is Born was designed in January 2014 and introduced in the 2014 as part of the Celestial Planet Collection. The designers and the craftsmen from Glass Eye Studio have captured this star as it begins its life. It makes a wonderful gift for both personal and corporate occasions, or it can be the perfect addition to your own Glass Eye Studio Collection.

3" wide in diameter, it comes in a beautiful velvet keepsake box with a story card that tells its unique tale.  A blend of imagination, science, art and creativity, this Glass Eye Studio Celestial paperweight reveals the mystery and the unknown of A Star Is Born. There is a special effect on this dichroic glass that makes it change colour when it reflects or transmits light.

All Glass Eye Studio products are handmade and individually crafted by artists.  They are made with the ash from Mount St. Helens volcano eruption (in Washington state) that occurred at 8:32:17 A.M. on Sunday, May 18, 1980.

Like people, stars are born, they grow old and they die. Their birth places are huge, cold clouds of gas and dust, known as 'nebulas'. These clouds start to shrink under their own gravity. As the cloud gets smaller, it breaks into clumps. Each clump eventually becomes so hot and dense that nuclear reactions begin. When the temperature reaches 10 million degrees Celsius, the clump becomes a new star. Most stars take millions of years to die, or even a trillion years. After puffing off its outer layers, the star collapses to form a very dense white dwarf. One teaspoon of material from a white dwarf would weigh up to 100 tonnes. Over billions of years, the white dwarf cools and becomes invisible. Make it yours and get ready for a spectacular celestial show!
