What is a black hole?  Black holes are some of the strangest and most fascinating objects found in outer space. They are objects of extreme density, with such strong gravitational attraction, that even light cannot escape from their grasp if it comes within their reach.  Enthralling and mysterious, a black hole is a mathematically defined region of spacetime, with such a strong gravitational pull that it traps all particles and electromagnetic radiation.  Albert Einstein first predicted black holes in 1916 with his general theory of relativity. The term "black hole" was coined in 1967 by American astronomer John Wheeler, and the first one was discovered in 1971. The Milky Way alone contains a few hundred million black holes. Very interesting! Thankfully, black holes are far away from Earth!
