Glass Eye Studio - Environmental Volcano

Because the Mt. St. Helens eruption of 1980 was one of the driving forces behind our products, the Volcano paperweight remains near and dear to our hearts. Another of nature’s terrible and spectacular displays, we’ve designed a paperweight that captures the volcano at the height of its eruption.

A stunning paperweight and/or decorative piece of art, this Environmental Volcano Paperweight is part of the Environmental Collection. It makes a wonderful gift for both personal and corporate occasions, or it can be the perfect addition to your own Glass Eye Studio Collection.

3" wide in diameter, it comes in a beautiful velvet keepsake box with a story card that tells its unique tale. A blend of imagination, a show of destruction, this Glass Eye Studio Environmental paperweight is fascinating.  There is a special effect on this dichroic glass that makes it change colour when it reflects or transmits light.

All Glass Eye Studio products are handmade and individually crafted by artists. They are made with the ash from Mount St. Helens volcano eruption (in Washington state) that occurred at 8:32:17 A.M. on Sunday, May 18, 1980.

A volcano is a rupture on the crust of a planetary-mass object, such as Earth, that allows hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface. Earth's volcanoes occur because its crust is broken into 17 major, rigid tectonic plates that float on a hotter, softer layer in its mantle. Both creators and destroyers, volcanoes prove that beneath its calm surface, Earth remains a living planet!
